Project of the Week

Here is a beautiful buffet created by Mara Oatman of Mara Oatman Designs.

Mara's instructions - I got this buffet at the Goodwill for $40.00. It was in pretty rough shape- lots of marks/blemishes and paint splatters on the finish. I sanded it and painted it with black spray paint. Then I sanded the edges to get a distressed look. I then finished it off with a coat of poly. And now its finished!

Here is the before

And here is the beautifully finished project

Are you keeping it or selling it? I'm guessing you're selling as your house is more shabby chic. It turned out great!

Hi Rachel....This buffet is not mine. It was created by Mara Oatman. I think it's beautiful, but would probably not go with the decor that I am leaning to these days. Painted black furniture is very "in" these days from what I hear.

I wanted to invite you take part in an event that I'm hosting September 4-7 called "Show Us Your Pretty Pumpkin."
Take a pic of your prettiest pumpkin, leave a comment with a link, and Sept. 4-7 I will add your post to the list.

I love furniture makeovers so I was excited to discover your blog - it all looks great.

Thanks for stopping by on my blog today! To answer your question, all of the frames were from Ikea except for the red, green and blue painted frames which were from TK Maxx.

That is so cleverly done, the black paint and the distress look really did do wonders to it.
